Not really. In the de facto third-world hellhole going by USA the news will hound you down so long till you break.

So you’re saying that this guy purchased all his firearms after Trump did whatever he did?
I don’t disagree. It is just ironic as the EU begins to toss around the idea of a “European Military” unbeholden to it’s various nations. If they think the Spanish police were bad, imagine an army filled with a bunch of people who have no relation to your state trying to suppress you. It’s the same reason dictators…
Nationalism is only evil to those in power seeking control of all nations.
Fucking idiot.
It’s weird to see nationalism criticized in this way because nationalism is the sole reason half the countries in Europe even exist. Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Czechia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, and Ireland all exist only because…
Why do they have the right to even vote on it?
It was dumb on every level.
I’m looking at the Spanish government response and thinking it’s completely ridiculous. There was no indication that independence would have been the favored choice and the central government could always deny the legitimacy of the vote anyway. Now the separatists have exactly what they want.
“Nationalism is, typically, a force for destruction.”
Whaaaaaaaaat? And collectivism and humanism has a squeaky clean human rights record? News flash: Humans are a force for destruction.
I forgot the bonus of Puerto Rico being forgotten because our president will be too busy tweeting about this and can’t focus on two things.
I couldn’t help laughing at Trump’s tweet.
Horrible...just sickening
I don’t agree with this. I think if you are taking about oppressive middle eastern countries, then yes. You can confine your woman in the house with no consequence or afterthought, but we are talking about western countries where (most of the time) women are equal to men (and yes I know we have a long way to go ..even…
My local credit union asks us to remove hats and sunglasses before entering. There are plenty of contexts where the niqab and burqa are inappropriate.
You forgot about something. Europe has 44 countries (not states, it’s not the same) and you treat it like a one big federalist state. But you tried, I guess.
Ehh the violence in Catalonia has been a long time coming. There have been tensions between Madrid and Barcelona for nearly 300 years.
Well a face covering ban that affects up to 150 is probably a bloody good compromise compared to the possibility of a party that would like deport foreigners and Muslims from the country gaining more power.
Of course they wouldn’t. That’s sort of what I mean by the fact that no one would’ve given a shite about face-covering bans as a serious policy but to be honest partial face covering bans have been a thing in Europe for decades, especially regarding things like hoodies and “youth delinquency”.
So it’s a general face-covering ban then that just so happens to include religious coverings as well?
