I was actually planning on buying this book until I read this article.

Subsidized wheat, sugar, and corn.
Yeah. And it’s their prerogative to do so but that doesn’t mean the rest of us want to look at them via modeling. To get outraged about the lack of obese older women in modeling doesn’t really hold much water for me. I don’t go to an art museum and get outraged that there isn’t more shitty art to look at.
Why does the average American woman reach a size 16 or more? This is actually not normal if you look at American women vs women in the rest of the world. Yes, people get a bit heavier as they grow older, but size 16 and more is ridiculously extreme. No one is born that way.
Ew, no thanks.
Yay for your comments and how much it relaxes me to know there’s at least one person who thinks all the things you are saying.
Even broken clocks are right twice a day.
Hello. You’re wrong. Stop caping for exclusion and division in the name of anger.
You’re missing the point. Black people don’t have agency and can’t make choices because of the white capitalist patriarchy. Nothing Monroe did would have been a consequence of her actions.
I agree! And had she put it like that in the first place, she probably wouldn’t have gotten fired and we probably wouldn’t have heard about it. But she didn’t. She carefully chose to be much more inflammatory, and shouldn’t be surprised (or even displeased, tbh) by the reaction.
The editorial staff at Jezebel is onboard with this insanity. You must be new
Agreed.
They wrote this whole article without quoting or addressing her original comments at all. It allows her to weasel out of what she said by saying “ALL white people” is some kind of abstract concept with no relation to individuals. Are you kidding me?
Based on skin color. That’s actually what make sense it racist.
Yeah, she doesn’t seem to grasp that once you do the “ALL” thing, your right to bitch about the backlash is forfeit. So sorry chica, thanks for playing.
I fail to see how firing a racist could be a bad thing. However, I do enjoy watching progressives twist themselves into pretzels justifying racism.
I agree with the general sentiment of her cri de cœur: white supremacy is a vast, monolithic and pervasive source of inequality in the world today that needs to be dismantled. But words have meaning, and the words she chose, the hot fire she originally spit, made the backlash she received entirely predictable.
A few?
So then you must care what I have to say, since you subsequently responded?
White person over here not giving a shit, just FYI
