My daughter is in the process of getting braces, which will require some surgery first to get a wayward tooth down where it should be. At the last appt the orthodontist apologised that it would take a while to get through the whole thing because these things take time. She, fifteen years old and a better person than I

My father had the aggressive lung cancer and by the time they caught it he was already terminal. After a lifetime of manual labour work, he didn’t have a lot in the way of savings and lived modestly with his partner. In the US, he would have died fairly quickly as he wouldn’t have been able to afford treatment. As he

I purposefully refused a cup of coffee on my first day and only drink water because at my place of work, if someone is going for a cup of coffee, they ask the rest of the team. Then, someone else will make the next and so on. They take it in turns. No one person is expected to make the coffee and our teams usually are

That’s appalling. It really is. Makes you wonder how bad things are for others that they still want to seek asylum there. Then makes you laugh hard when your dipshit trump fans talk shit about Europe and speak of the US as the best country in the world.

You need to remind your boss that you aren’t  parent to your colleagues and that if he want’s to be he can wipe their arses but you aren’t doing it.

We have a cleaning staff and a reminder to each member of staff to clean up after themselves. Another email reminder for people to remove their crap from the fridge or it will be emptied, usually by one of the managers who is sick of complaints.
It may be a cultural thing, UK vs US or the fact that I work in a local

Nah. If it needs to be done then it will be included in someones job description as one of the daily tasks. WHat you are talking about are the stupid things that if they don’t get done won’t really matter anyway. So if women really feel ‘they must get done’ then more fool them.

Right and when I go to the hospital, I don’t have to worry about calling a taxi because the ambulance is to expensive. I don’t have to stress about the thousands of dollars of charges for basic, basic, healthcare.
The benefits of the system work in our favour. You might have some extra cash but how many people earning

You realise that in the Scandinavian countries and here in the UK there are a lot of people who still make a lot of money right? It just means they make a ridiculous amount of money and pay high tax to make a fantastic amount of money instead... and get all those other benefits that paying those taxes into their

Why is that a problem? If you are earning over 50k here in the UK you will be paying a lot more tax than if you are earning 15k and that’s a good thing.

Seriously? The US doesn’t give paid maternity leave? Wow... and your dipshit president had the gall to call other countries shit-holes.

Or just do as I do and ask for as much work as you can possibly manage, make sure you are completing more items of work per day than any of your colleagues and if asked to do something ridiculous, just say, no. Can’t do it. Too busy.

As a man, I have to ask, why the hell would you volunteer for some shitty task? I go to work, do my job then get paid. I’m not there to organise parties for people or collect money for their leaving present. If you want me to do that, stick it in my contract as one of my duties and make sure you pay me.
I have no idea

Hey! A good henchman follows orders, no matter how much they might disagree. Them’s the rules... which, admittedly led to the holocaust, but I’m fairly sure that won’t happen this time... right?

Even his henchmen, sitting beside him, look so done.

Never had to deal with the US legal system but I have been following closely an indie author who has been forced to defend herself against another and after months of back and forth and a lot of money, she is working a second job and taking donations to help with the costs because her opponent simply has more money

It’s bad enough that shooting victims struggle to pay for their hospital care, but not they are being sued! WTF America...

Yep. I work for local government and we are cautioned that when we speak online we are doing so as a representative of our employer and as such, we should act accordingly. No matter what, my role is all about serving the people of my town and I can be fired if I start saying shit.
In the same way, I sell stuff online.

Then don’t put your writing out into the public forum. If you can’t handle discussion or critique, you shouldn’t be expecting people to want to read your work.
As a writer myself, I am perfectly happy to have people comment on my work. If I disagree with their suggestions, then I tell them, but I am open to them.

I’ve always despised our royal family and the way people treat them like they are something special and not just descendents of people who were big enough bastards to force others into calling them king... but even so, I’ll take them over your president any day of the week.
