Even many taxi companies have fairly decent hailing apps these days. They figured out that part of the equation pretty quickly, once Uber and Lyft started eating their lunch.

Unlike many other social media, Instagram specifically does not have a “repost” function (though there are a ton of very sketchy third-party apps that will perform this action), and it specifically states in their ToS that you are not allowed to post others’ work without permission.

...and Instagram’s ToS specifically states it’s a violation of the ToS to share another’s work without permission. As a photographer who files DMCA takedown notices against accounts stealing my images on a fairly regular basis, I’m pretty familiar with the process.

A justice system founded and based on Puritanical Christian ideology.

I certainly felt this way when I started (nearly) hate-watching the first episodethen I saw Patrick’s name in the opening credits as an executive producer, and I suddenly felt relief. Things were gonna be okay, especially with his sign-off and tacit approval, putting his name on it. And you know what? I enjoyed it. A

The headliner was Ghoti Hook, if I recall, but that was a late-in-the-game change (it was supposed to be Five Iron Frenzy, but they cancelled, totally ruining my elaborate plan to woo their saxophonist, Leanor).

Played a ska show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia with a band named Purple Monkey Dishwasher in 1996 or so. The band I was playing with at the time was called The Skattish Beasts (and yes, we wore kilts to perform), so I certainly am not one to judge!

That’s pretty much how cable tracing has worked since time immemorial... ;-)

It wasn’t a bad router, per se (had that been the issue, traffic would have automatically been routed around it), but a misconfiguration of a router used by a significant portion of the internet as an authoritative DNS source.

Sounds like the method my wife has figured out to trick her watch into thinking she’s met her stand goals for the day (she’s a completionist, and while she gets plenty of actual exercise—as she’s a crossfit crazy person—for some reason her stand goal is always short at the end of the day).

Exactly. While it was entertaining, it was also a pale comparison of a literally perfectly-done show. Once they gave up on attempting to make a scene-for-scene remake of the UK version, and just went to the “extended road trip or competition for the entire hour” format after season one, it became a supremely enjoyable

They do that for all the “deaths by lava,” to the point where I wondered if they actually pause the clock while divers/boaters go collect the person who’s gone under and whisk them off-camera.

So can I sue Cinemark if I go to their movie theatre and get COVID

With the COVID infection rate in prisons and jails (5x the “normal” rate, last I read), the crowding problem may just solve itself...

Ugh...I have a (now ex) brother-in-law who hails from South America. he moved here in the late 90s to play in MLS (had a very short career as a player, now works as trainer/coach for ODP soccer teams).

Creation of the modern day BrownShirts? Lovely...

There’s a tweet for that:

Proven otherwise in the famed 1973 research paper “How To Eat Fried Worms.

For a similar concept, see if you can find the short story “With Friends like These,” by Alan Dean Foster (that story is included in an anthology of his shorter works bearing the same title). It’ll cleanse your palate right up!
