@TheIrishNinja: They really don't want the mainstream audience to think it was Will Wright's work. They want them to think it was EA's. They're honestly happier with that state of affairs than helping make someone else famous - someone who can then ditch 'em and use their fame elsewhere.

@Syco Killer: "They should look at the bright side of pirating, if they're so small, and some new radical game pops up and get super popular on torrents. Then odds are a sequel to that will be fairly popular on torrents as well."

YES.

@Hostile: With this service you'll be able to just jam the game onto a backup CD/DVD and do whatever the hell you want with it whenever, forever, from the sounds of things. Even if the service itself implodes the moment your download finishes.

So the horny loner contingent is out in full force here.

It's awesome that publishers have found a whole new way to take people's money without those inconvenient reviews cutting into the hype.

@wild homes is weathering cephalopod trouble!: That's the face of Phil Fish, who collected Excellence in Visual Arts award winner Fez's award last year wearing that fez. So yeah, it has everything to do with the IGF.

@the_funny_thing_is: Per-capita annual health spending in the US was $5,267. In the UK? $2,160.

@ZeroFlowne: Yep - mocking the dominant group in society ironically is accepted because it's redressing the balance, and implicitly criticising the denigration of women, minorities, gays, etc. If done seriously, at least it's counter to general opinion and thus likely to be blocked and criticised at every turn - so it

@Spoiler Duck: Yep, no argument here. I think it's simply because MGS4 is a product of Japanese culture, in which misogyny is tolerated to a greater extent and apparently expected. In this context I think Kojima's work is still progressive, as he sometimes abuses his male characters in a similar but unconventional

You can complain about it going in "Television", but at least it's in an arts/entertainment section and not "Technology".

I won't wear anything "game related" just because it's game related - it's still got to be stylish, funny or interesting, basically more than just A Thing That References Some Game That Everyone Likes. I've no interest in stuff that just proclaims your fanboyism/fangirlism.

Everyone seems to want to do away with scores. I rabidly disagree.

RTSes - too stressful, they just feel like work. Turn-based strategy is great though.

Rock Band's been out here two weeks - we're taking it down to London to meet up with some friends, get drunk and lay on a massive GH2/GH3/Rock Band session. Bring the noise!

This would be awesome.

It'll use coloured plastic. Clear (polarised) 3D glasses require special displays and LCD glasses are expensive and need wires. I've seen red/blue glasses that work with an almost unnoticeable tint, though, not primary colours.

@okrangerbob: There are plenty of jobs here in the UK. Don't bother with applying to US studios for an entry level job, they're not going to bother flying you out there for interview let alone getting you a work visa and paying relocation unless you have years of experience. That's many thousands of pounds of

@Wuth: "Why not try going it alone? Why not try finding a group of like minded individuals to start your own studio?"

Passion is totally irrelevant to many employers. It's a plus, but that's all. The essential thing is talent — proven talent — and if you have that you can find a job, passion or no. There are a good number of people working in the games industry who don't really play games, for example. If you don't work in the
