I’m certainly guilty of the nostalgia factor, so hard for me to convince you on that front. I’d quibble that the focus is on promos “instead of” work rate or matches. They typically have, what, 3-4 matches in an hour-long show? In my view, the promos are there as a complement to the in-ring action, and they work

I figure this is your last piece before they give you the axe. I’m a middle-aged Luddite without any social media, but I’ll try to follow your writing wherever you land. Thanks so much for putting together columns like this. You’re a funny, insightful writer and your work is invaluable.

Apropos of hot sauce damage:

Grew up with asthma as well. I keep thinking about when I used to feel an attack coming on, and it was like breathing through a straw. No way could I fight, or do any athletic shit, in those times. Felt like I was drowning.

I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Snyder is just such an unlikeable figure, and since he took the reins in 1999, the organization hasn’t been the same product on the field. And that is largely his fault, from his failure to put a GM in place, to his inability to cede control of the day-to-day operations and

Yep. My friend got the tickets for free and gave me one. That’s really the only reason I even entertained going to a game on a Monday during rush hour traffic.

Oh, nice. I’ll give it a watch. Thank you.

It’s honestly a push. One of the last games I attended (the last?) was the Monday night blowout to Philly when Vick went nuts. It was pouring down rain that night and took my buddy and I FOREVER to fucking get to that concrete shithole. Parking was a bitch.

Yeh, fuck all that. I gave up my fandom years ago and likely will never return.

It officially takes longer to drive to/from that god-awful stadium than it does to watch the game itself.

Tito Santana, Rock-n-Roll Express, John Cena, Bruno Sammartino, Junkyard Dog, etc.

I haven’t seen AEW dark, but I have been watching most of the regular AEW show on Wednesdays. I’ve sort of soured on it a bit, as it feels like WCW in feel and format, though the technical wrestling is obviously far better. I feel like there’s not enough storytelling, quick promos, and it’s mostly high spots and crazy

Shoot, go the other way (west) and it gets ridiculously cold during winter. Go up into Cumberland or Frostburg and it’s pretty darn cold.

Goddamn. Well, it’s all relative. Maryland gets legitimate winters and is quite warm (read: humid) during summers. In fact, the heat here during the summer I put up against most other places in the country.

Maryland’s average low temperature in Nov (43 degrees), Dec (33 degrees), Jan (29 degrees), Feb (31 degrees), March (39 degrees).

Kudos and huzzah to this young man.

Hey Luis, any chance you or Bix or Dan McQuade are going to start writing weekly reviews of NWA Powerrr?

Oh, yes. I remember Irvin being driven into the turf, head first, and being momentarily paralyzed. Wow, I’d forgotten about that.

Yes. The vast majority of arguments I see/hear/read these days tend toward basic rhetorical fallacies we learned in college (Argumentation and Debate, 101). People that used these would routinely get their asses handed to them in a formal debate setting.
