From the bit I’ve read, the other theory is that Trump’s lawyers don’t believe they can win the legal battle to keep the tapes under wraps due to the “crime-fraud” exemption, and losing that battle in court would elevate the import and legitimacy of the tapes to the general public.

I’ve been trying to figure out why Trump’s lawyers agreed to waive attorney-client privilege and allow the release of the 12 Cohen tapes.
