That was some good television. Some favorites of non-premium TV that come to mind: White Shadow, Hill Street Blues, Homicide, Northern Exposure, West Wing. Each jumped the shark at some point but, many, when they got it right, it was good writing, good acting and, sometimes, powerful messages.
