I have a feeling he was trying to keep things cool so as not to ruin the proposal story. At this point I hope they sue and get enough money to have the wedding of their dreams and still have enough left over to buy a decent starter home.

Soooo, what type of thief steals merchandise and then casually hangs out outside the establishment? Said thief complies to a search, and STILL remains onsite for subsequent inquiries?? Just goes to show how racism trumps (pun intended) any semblance of basic common sense
everywhere I’ve worked basically says that at some point, it’s just not worth it to try and recover merchandise
Yeah, this is where the “we’re not profiling!” angle stops holding up. (I mean, it never held up, but still.) If you’re badgering Black folks for stolen property and a white person with them says “Check my shit” and you refuse, you’re racist as a motherfucker.
“I felt humiliated, especially after one of my white friends made a point of asking them to check her bag for the T-shirt, but they refused to do so,”
I’m just not sure what the hell the security guards here were trying to accomplish. I mean, other than just being racist as fuck. That much is obvious.
Retraining? Nope. Fire everyone from the head down. Then hire new people who aren’t racist and train them.
Exactly. What kind of example does that set for the children (separated from their families and kept indefinitely in brutal detention without even soap or toothpaste)?
This was filmed weeks - if not months - ago (just look at her hair color). She was asked a direct question and answered directly. Honestly, if she had answered the question at that time any differently, it would’ve been transparently disingenuous.
People keep directly asking her. What is she supposed to say?
Jesus, I know the parents are clearly suffering and grieving, but at least admit your son had some agency in this world. He had alcoholism, he worked at a bar (this is an incredibly common thing), he was selfish and foolish enough to pair his addiction with driving... and paid the price.
“And when he needed them, they kinda just looked the other way.”
So I am not a lawyer or legal expert, what I am is someone who works in food service specifically around the service of alcohol. Most states have DRAM shop laws which can make a business, server/bartender legally responsible for the actions of someone they served to the point of intoxication and/or who is already intox…
So many bartenders are alcoholics. Not all, but it sure makes it easier to put up with the drunks.
Parents didn’t care enough to get him help when they knew he was an alcoholic, but they sure care now that he’s dead and tangentially related to a rich celebrity.
Seems more like the bartender who overserved him would be much more culpable than Woods himself.
Dude might have been a pro drinker - maybe they’ve been calling him cabs three times a week for months, and this time they thought he had it together (.25 for an alcoholic and lightweight obviously presenting very differently) and were tired of not getting paid back for all those ubers. There’s always a ton of context…
Yeah I dunno about this one. Seems more like the bartender who overserved him would be much more culpable than Woods himself. Certainly, if his alcoholism was a known factor, they ought not to have served him. However, if he had gone to another bar down the street where it was not known, the only culpability would be…
This seems like textbook money grubbing from a tragedy.
Would the article be written, and would the response differ, if she a different faith? I suspect so. I’m atheist and think it’s all nuts, but I find the different reactions just as crazy.
