I saw it yesterday and it was great. A well crafted story, humor, action and what was most impressive was the visual style. Its really beautifully drawn/animated. I absolutely loved it.

I honestly think its intentional, they missed the mark but early adopters/fanboys will buy regardless. Next year they put out the model they should have and capture a different segment of market share. its just a poor and rather cheap way of price differentiation
