They gave VERY weak cover to that in this episode with “Well, hope they don’t need me to go on TV!”

If one wanted to make a racial quibble with the show, it’s kind of unbelievable that a society so intolerant to women wouldn’t also be highly racist (we’ve seen some black commanders, for instance), but that’s a discussion for another time.

June is completely reckless, no she’s not directly responsible for her death but she’s responsible for making other take risks on her behalf.

“Elizabeth Moss making overly dramatic faces directly to the camera” is about half the show overall.

She basically runs the damn place now.

It’s weird, in the Gilead that season 1+2 built up there was no way that June would get to constantly act out. But here she is getting into fights, yelling, making faces in a propaganda video, and it seems like nobody notices.

I think you’re way too negative on the episode. Ann Dowd was great, and I really thought her backstory was persuasive in explaining how she got to where she is. I really don’t think the producers have any racial statement to make.. just so happens that most Marthas are black, and so happens to be Ofmathew.
