The consequences of the neverending sexualization of the female body are varied and surprising.

Men: The Rational Gender(tm). We’ll risk touching your boobs without express permission after a couple beers, but not when it might save your lives.

Let’s make a deal. I stop referring to human women as “females” if you feminists stop using the term “male gaze” which is equally demeaning to us men.

“People cannot read minds” - umm well if John singleton had behaved professionally, he wouldn’t have had to read anyone’s mind.

Many can vouch that he has always been respectful to women privately & professionally

Yeah, speak up! What’s your name again?

Glad you are the sexual harassment police. She said herself in the article her outward appearance was at odds with her inner thoughts. “Being complimentary” about a woman’s sex attributes is not appropriate professional conversation. Please stick around Jez long enough to educate yourself.

Shall we excuse murderers because of all the people they met and didn’t even attempt to kill? Polite, respectful behavior towards one person (or even many people) does not negate impolite, disrespectful behavior towards another.

Then you should also have remembered things I left out of this story from other women who have similar stories. But thank you for reading and sharing your opinion. You have such a strong explanation of what happened to me. But what about the other woman who it happened to as well? Was she making it all up too?

I would just like to say, that in a professional capacity, you shouldn’t comment on someone’s physical appearance (whether it pleases or disgusts you). Perhaps you think her story is one-sided and unfair, but I’m just pointing out that any person’s body is off the table when you’re in a professional situation. It’s

John — back away from the computer! Seriously, if you feel so strongly about it what’s your name? Danielle bravely used hers. In what capacity were you there? Obviously another woman there felt the same way, so it’s not beyond the possibility that this man acted inappropriately. We’ve all been there. Instead of caping

Wow... Just wow.

Blink and you miss Gosling’s naked ass scooting through the background on the way to a shower ... it was pretty unequal. Like, if there’s a female AI companion named Joi, why doesn’t she have a male counterpart? I get that in the main story they’re both artificial people but when you’re on the street shouldn’t there

I’m a millenial woman of color. I love sci-fi and I probably would have seen this movie if the following were to happen:

How about the fact that both main characters were white men? I didn’t see any female characters in the marketing of this film, besides a glimpse of some futuristic robot female with pink hair.

I love sci-fi but I didn’t see a single women in the TV trailers. I’m just not interested in movies that give me the first impression they’ll fail the Bechdel test. *shrug*

I don’t believe it is. I’ve added it all up in my head. I’m counting his ai girlfriend as sexualized screentime because most of the time when we’re seeing her, she is being sexualized. Not all the time, because sometimes she’s honestly just talking to him, but a lot of the time. That alone is a lot of time. There’s

What doesn’t make sense is the way the director seems to have been trying to studiously avoid any nudity on Gosling’s part (including during the sex scene!) as if even a hint of clavicle would make the audience’s retinas burn off.

I was also like, hmm I wanna see this but there was a rape scene in the last one and I don’t feel like dealing with that right now if they put one in the sequel. I doubt I was the only one!

There is a lot of female nudity. Not that there wasn’t in the original, there was a lot of focus on the female form so it doesn’t feel out of place in the sequel. But it’s a lot. It’s a long movie and I’d estimate 20% of the screen time is occupied by a naked or sexualized woman.
