The Dodge Challenger started as the ultra-cool “Vanishing Point” car and now it’s a monster muscle car with the proper retro styling. But back in the 80's, the Challenger was a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant:

The V6 that it got was just as powerful and more efficient than the contemporary 318, but it would have been better received with the latter.

The GM 3800 has to be up there. Didn’t matter if you were drag racing, driving the Indy 500, or going to the grocery store over a ~40 year period, it had ya covered.
