If there weren't 1500 comments on that article, I'd reply there: I love how he dismisses the idea that many people would refuse to watch Mel Gibson in anything he's in; but, um, really? Mel Gibson is unredeemable. In no way would he have improved upon Fury Road. What a joke.

I just felt the tone of the movie, the writing, and the way she was portrayed was incongruous. Like maybe the writer thought the audience would agree that the frizzy haired girl was "awful".
