That the club had a racist membership requirement wasn't the worst thing about the Juice storyline; it was that he would *betray* the club by being a rat in preference to being outed as black. I mean, ridiculous. I just hated Juice the whole season, and had to finally fast forward through all his scenes.

I saw this movie in 1983 at a midnight movie. I had gone to see Rocky Horror, but there was this huge line of mods waiting for Quadrophenia, so I jumped ship to check out what the big deal was. I loved this movie. My mom's boyfriend brought over his copy of the Quadrophenia album, and I just listened to it over and

Taste is relative, of course, but Quadrophenia is the Who's crowning achievement; their best album ever, and maybe the best album of all time. Tommy-Who's Next-Quadrophenia is an amazing trio of albums back to back, and add in slightly lesser works before and after (Who By Numbers is also quite good), and the Who have

The original show was very progressive. Consider me worried too.

I also enjoyed Hollywood Animal, but it was clear that he had far too high an opinion of himself. It was also infuriating how he spent his whole life being an unapologetic chain-smoking atheist, and then as soon as he gets cancer, he's all "don't smoke" and "I love god" and stuff. What a turd.

Is it possible there was a pod nearby and there was a switcheroo we didn't see? It's been awhile since I've watched it (I used to own it on LaserDisk!), but I just assumed there was a pod we didn't see…

I saw the 1978 version when I was 8; my mom *meanly* made me come to the drive-in with her and her boyfriend. I was wrecked after that! I couldn't sleep for months out of fear. I just listened to records over and over as the night dragged on to feel less alone. That said, great movie.

The trailer for this movie was horrible; it barely hinted that there might be something darker going on; it just looked like a typical glorification of the MPDG. Since it's not, I guess I want to see it now, partly because I liked Little Miss Sunshine, and also Paul Dano.

I agree. Huge fan of Rushmore and Life Aquatic, but lately, his stuff seems very light and forgettable. I wonder if this collaboration with Roman Coppola is to blame. Bring back Noah Baumbach! Also, yes to PT Anderson (cross fingers).
