The donations mechanic is built in with the twitch streaming platform. It is nowhere near an implicit request. And as stated, it is NOT required in order to view the stream. Donations are fully optional.

Not really sure what you mean by “peddling” but most streamers never ask people for donations. They welcome them but never state “hey donate money to me”. Its really a nuasance in those high level play lobbies or in the hands of pros. I havent really come across anyone in my matches using them (well except for me being the asshole I am). Still this thing is ridiculous and needs to be patched ASAP
