No nontroversy has ever gotten me riled up as the Great Captroversy of 2016.

Yeah, we are totally agreeing. It’s just a sad state of affairs when “submarine pirate” isn’t a movie that writes itself.

The shame is that Manta doesn’t need an “origin” to work. Just cast an amazing scenery chewer and make him a submarine pirate. The fact that I need to justify that sentence blows my mind.

I love the idea of recasting the younger characters with older actors. I want to see Ed Harris cornered by robots rescued by a mysterious figure, snidely remark “I’m always bailing you out Billy” and boom, it’s Chris Cooper as older Logan.

You know what I’d love to see? A run that introduces fun new villains for the characters to face off with developing their backstories and motivations and challenging the heroes in new ways. Crazy right? But it was good enough for Stan and Jack and Steve.

I was hoping that this was gonna be Evan’s secret Marvel project. I think I’m gonna be disappointed every announcement that’s not that.
