How is it bad that the companions have a “can do” attitude? They are travelling with a person who has been shown to be able to overcome any obstacle and they also haven’t been fighting a war for ages either. Why wouldn’t they be optimistic that the Doctor will sort it all out and try and push that feeling onto others?
