Having experienced this first-hand (Ecuador, 1999), I can say it is a genuine pain to get around in. However, it did allow me to check off another box on my "Natural Disasters Experienced" list.

I rent cars every week, and I am always impressed by the huge size of the typical trunk on a sedan, and the comparative small amount of back-seat leg room. I think that the average sedan could lose 50% trunk space, gain 25% legroom, and still end up smaller and lighter. The only time anyone would know the difference…
