WoW's problem has nothing to do with the perceived notion of making raiding more accessible or making normal mode bosses easier and their heroic counter parts harder creating a divide in the raiding community. There are some people saying that B.C had the most subscribers but they are incorrect.

Keep in mind that trash always respawned back in BC because trash spawns were tied to bosses and will respawn on a timer if the boss is not down. Based on your description it would be hard to say if you have played before or after bc's changes to potions and dungeon difficulties.
