We’ve had digital rearview mirrors for a while now, especially in supercars with no back windows to speak of in the US. The only thing we don’t get are digital sideview mirrors.

I just recently spent more than I could have ever imagined on a new Toyota Prius Magnum XL Sienna. Amazing family car, getting 37mpg on the current tank with AWD. It’s already a minivan so I already don’t care what it looks like... 

Too bad they don’t have the guts to do a Sienna-based Lexus. Maybe even go full-crazy send and make it an EV.

Counterpoint to the old cranks who hate rear view cameras:

For side mirrors, I hate the idea of cameras, but for rear? Absolutely!

How many cars over the years have had functionally useless rear windows anyway?  My wife’s Defender and my GMC have rear view mirror screens so they could have blanked out rear windows as well and I’d never know.  This is fine.

What are you talking about? There’s ample video of her being completely out of it. More out of it than the orange menace. 

Can she be removed from that committee and someone else put on?  She should resign, but it is obvious by now she is not ever going to. 

This is why we need term limits.

It’s like the RBG situation all over again. Except I’m not giving Feinstein the benefit of the doubt that her motivation is altruistic.

Derp. This is not going to end well. I would have thought the smarter move would have been to have both and let the consumer decide. Or have both and gradually fade the other out as their new system gains popularity and stability.
