I have had nightmares about this every single night for the past two weeks. My first thought every morning is “This can’t be real, right?”

You might want to research a bit about Catholic theology. There’s a huge difference between ‘your sin is so ugly that only a bishop can absolve you’ to ‘this is a sin in the same category of pretty much most other sins and regular confession can do the trick.’
Agreed, but to the devout Catholic women who believe in that doctrine? They believe it is a sin and this forgiveness is a bfd.
I’m due with my first child on Inauguration Day.
Literally almost everything is a sin in the Catholic Church. We can criticize their position, but we can also acknowledge that this is a step in the right direction. And for devout women of faith, a very big step.
It’s like Trump tweeting about how theater should ‘always be a safe space’ and of course these are the people who bemoan the whole notion of safe spaces.
I can’t see West making it out of the primaries. Like, would Democrats really pick him over someone like Elizabeth Warren? (I also refused to even consider a possibility of Trump winning, so my credibility on “what people are capable of” is pretty slim atm.)
Kanye, why do you have to make is so hard to appreciate your music by, you know, being such a horrible person?
Remember the thought experiment, about liberals running their own Donald Trump-esque candidate, and would we vote for him? That is Kanye West, and the answer is “hell no.”
I think Michelle is demanding a vacation, so we might have to wait until March to see Citizen Obama, but it’ll be beautiful.
Yeah my husband refers to March as dumping season, when you can find all the self important movies that weren’t any good.
Megyn Kelly is having a lot of hero moments, Glenn Back is sounding increasingly reasonable, and Lindsay Graham strikes me as one of the few chances we have at protecting the American democracy.
Warren and Markey are my senators and my rep is reliably blue. I called them yesterday re: Bannon, mostly as positive feedback. Any politicians it’s worth calling if you live in a super blue district in a super blue state?
Came here to say exactly this.
Bebe rainy_day is due 1/19, so I’ll be watching the inauguration from home or perhaps giving birth. Either way there will be lots of screaming, crying, and inventive cursing.
Ugh the ‘give him a chance’ bullshit. He told us EXACTLY who he is and what he plans to do. I’m going to act and plan accordingly.
My version of this: Trump is fundamentally a very lazy person. A lot of the things he promised to do will take a LOT of work, even with a GOP congress (for the next 2 years; we’re coming for you 2018). Quite frankly, I just don’t think he’s remotely interested into putting in that kind of effort, and his lazinesss…
That was the truest thing I heard all night, and I took it as my sign to shut off the tv.
Thanks, friend. Also loving your list of US Women’s Suffrage history lesson in bullets, above.
Thanks for the lecture on credibility and the Constitution! I hope you enjoyed voting for Trump today, Trolly McTrollface.
I’m gonna let you in on a little secret: Humans, even historical greats, are complex. As students of history we can acknowledge that John Adams was both amazing and that he didn’t think women should vote*. James Madison was a genius who essentially wrote the constitution—which is an incredible document for liberty and…
