I'm assuming you've read the notes upon note upon notes that Tolkien left behind and Christopher Tolkien has since published. And yes, there were some liberties taken, obviously, but there is much more to the tale than the original novel, believe or not.

I'm going to assume you just didn't read my comments, because otherwise that would be a stupid response all around. I clearly DON'T agree. On top of that I'm not apologizing for Jackson and I seriously doubt he would apologize for himself.

Believe it or not, I don't disagree with that.The Hobbit COULD have been done as a single movie. Even so, I'm perfectly happy with what is going on. There's nothing they are doing that is disappointing me in any way. If you don't like it, don't go see the movies. I'm enjoying the hell out of them personally.

You do realize that there were books upon books of just notes (by Tolkien himself) to work with, and not just a single short novel, correct? A bit of embellishment, to be sure, but The Hobbit needed to tie in more closely to Lord of the Rings than Tolkien's original novel. Consider the fact that Tolkien didn't know
