That is corporate thievery in a nutshell. Google makes money off all this volunteer free labor while dangling the possibility of making money off the ad revenue which they can mess up with no notice whatsoever.

Work for a company? That implies that they’re employees, they’re basically volunteers wit delusions of ownership who get tossed a bit of coin if YouTube doth declare they earned it. They still have to pay all the taxes including 13.2% social security tax and the 5.8% Medicare tax.

YouTube would still make money on the ads. They don’t need the uploader to monetize the video to make money off of it themselves.

They still show ads, they just won’t allow the content creator to make any of the coin from it.
