My Shih Tzu mix, a rescue, is the same. We don't have children, but she always barks or snaps at them when in close quarters. On top of that, the neighborhood kids tease her verbally, and that just agitates her more. Makes me afraid for when we have kids in the near future.

Not to forget that victim shaming is probably the first recourse for many people in power in India, including cops and local authorities. Rape is massively under reported as many have mentioned, because of the stigma and the belief that a raped woman is 'forever ruined' and unworthy of a man.
