I am creating one more right now.

I’ve driven used cars my whole life, as as my dad (got my miser DNA from him). I can’t remember ever changing a bushing. Old cars and new cars eat tires, wear belts and brakes, and dirty fluids at the same rate so those are basically a wash with the older car maybe needing one extra set of tires/belt/brake pads over

“That 6K car could easily cost them another 6K over 3-4 years.”

Yep, I just sold my 09 GTI for $5800 w/ 101k miles in pretty pristine condition. Our family income is almost 6figs so I allowed myself to buy my first new car at age 36. Got an Alltrack wagon for $22k to haul the kiddos and dog around. If not for those needs, I’d absolutely still be rocking my GTI. Lots of solid cars

That seems a little insane. But honestly that tells me either car prices are too high overall, income is too low, or both.

And what is wrong with the the industry imploding? They are providing the consumer with too much tech as standard and inflating prices to $37.5k ATP. Its great the “economy” is doing “well” but for the average buyer, the car industry is just taking a massive shit on their finances.

to assume that someone who brings home $60,000 should be grabbing a $6,000 beater from Craiglist is pretty unrealistic.

It was not faster than any Porsche that year. The 924S, 944, 944S and 911 would SMOKE this. Signed: former 87 924S and 88 944S owner.

That is not a fair comparison. When these Golf GTIs Jetta GLIs were new and recent there were loads of people who lusted after them. Like, posters above the bed lusted after. The MK2 (Golf) GTI was one of the best hot hatches of the 80s, of course it’s going to be expensive now.

I don’t think HE was the one who was friend zoned.

BaT comments say it was listed on eBay before that as well. One guy said he offered $10k an the seller came back with $16k

Great looking car that I would love to daily drive but way too much money.

Yes, honey, I listed the car. See? That’s what they’re worth, I swear! Now get off my back.

Nice car, but too much money

Remember when Ford put the Ecoboost v6 in the F150 to improve gas mileage? Remember they got all kinds a shit on because when you actually towed with it the gas milage was worse than the V8 it replaced?

But in either event, GM is selling it like its an exercise in what they can do... by making the pickup worthless? What dumb idea for a publicity stunt.

GM seems to have a history of pretending to be serious about EVs and then not actually being serious about them.

Building it into a hot rod defeats the purpose of it being a pickup. Literally what every hot rod build is.

This thing is extremely cool...

The best net electrical efficiency I know in this size class is the capstone c30. It is 30kW and approx 28% efficient. Even at more scale, simple cycle turbines are probably only on par with diesels, where they beat them is in continuous runtime and weight. You do have to be careful with efficiency numbers though, as
