I won’t disagree that more critical, nuanced discussion should be employed just so people are more informed (in the public at large really), but I disagree that nothing will ever improve because we lack nuance. You’re asking for emotional labor. In this context, you’re asking a minority to empathize with the majority (which, generally speaking, they already have to do to navigate the day to day), but demanding nothing of the bigots.
