Of the many things to take away from the announcement of casting in a new film, to point out the number of female characters seems a bit odd ... you seem to think he has a bad track record with this, but does he really? I’ve never thought of his films in terms of gender, or that he can’t write interesting female

Well played ... well played, indeed

Ladies and Gentlemen, if I could have your attention ... it falls to me to inform you that the role of Poor Man’s Tom Hardy will be performed tonight by Mister Logan-Green’s understudy, Mr. Jai Courteney

If that Mixtape thing mentioned here is the same “on the black list for ages and did the rounds of Hollywood” movie script from about a decade ago, I’ll be more than mildly curious ....

“No respect!”

Presumably with torches ... and, er, Pitchfork ?

The A.V. Club

Ah yes, Benicio del Toro ... what a week that guy is having. First, someone thinks he’s Guillermo del Toro. Now apparently he’s also Javier Bardem. His agent must be working overtime

there’s going to be a third one!!??!! Evans will have to up the ante yet again. Uwais is going to have to fend off ten guys while hanging upside down off the back of a train or something

I don’t know who that is but I looked her up and no, it hasn’t

It’s already on Channel 4. The first 2 were a bit meh; 3 and 4 were much more interesting

Tonight’s episode was directed by Marc Munden, and as I was watching it I thought ‘this looks familiar’ and I looked him up. Sure enough, he directed Utopia. Even the music score in tonight’s ep was Utopia-ish

This has been on Channel 4 in the Uk now for a few weeks. Tonight’s was the fourth ep (with Steve Buscemi). The first 2 eps were a bit meh for me. Ep 3 with Timothy Spall and Tuppence Middleton was great

I have no idea who this person is. I was sort of OK with the weird poppy electronic vibe of the opening of the song, but as soon as she starts singing, it’s awful

also, I was just reading about the 50th anniversary of The Prisoner. That must have been a hell of a TV series to experience when it first came out

There are few consolations that come with age, but at least I can say I am old enough to have appreciated Twin Peaks and Pulp Fiction in their original runs. I also got to watch Threads, A Very British Coup, The Singing Detective, and a host of other TV series and films. Oddly though in the last few years I am often
