Given that I'd put in several hundred hours among three or four characters, my pride allowed me to go ahead and turn down the difficulty slider when playing Oblivion in the last few weeks in anticipation of Skyrim. So much nicer.

How's that repartee coming along?

Yeah, I top out at 150, and downloading also means no Netflix. I'm going to huffily move to Canada for non-political reasons for once.

"…only to walk 10 yards down the road and get slaughtered by a stray bear." [emphasis added]
Just felt like reprinting that. Carry on, all.

Reaper Man was my first, so it would hold a special place in my heart even if it wasn't of extraordinarily high quality, but it is.

Carpe Jugulum was almost the only one that I actually disliked as I read it. I forget which one was before it, but I think there were two like that in a row, and I worried that he was losing his touch. Happily, I haven't been disappointed again since.

I thought Thud! was damn near perfect. It crystalized the whole cultural-assimilation theme that's been in the background of every story set in Ankh since the beginning, and was also a brilliant mystery with an exceptionally large-yet-well-balanced cast of characters to boot.

This rather surprises me. It was one of the first I read, and while that also means I haven't reread it since high school, I loved it at the time.

I think that "for a story about ______ it was surprisingly emotional" could apply fairly equally to all the books. You could reduce them all to their absurd single-sentence comedic hooks, yet they virtually all have at least scenes, and often whole storylines, that are absolutely moving.

And another expression of distaste and disappointment that the Tolerability Index has still not been reformatted as a 5000-word sociological treatise.

Oh shit…just wait until these go up on Metacritic and all the Tuesday fanboys get wind of it.

So, your name came up when people saw a tidal wave of barely-coherent lunatics falling all over themselves to out-stupid each other over an AVC game review score, and you're taking pride in that fact? Of course you are!

It is also Veteran's Day in the U.S. I know this because I had to check to make sure UPS delivers on Veteran's Day am very patriotic.

But those spicy Cheez-Its give me heartburn!

How much coke does it take to get one "coked-up"? Are we talking a six pack? More than a six pack? She better bring her own.

Yes, I think we need some examples. This is Mike R, after all. He probably thinks "anti-semitic" means "badly rhymed."

That tears it. I'm in.

I have not, but I'll definitely look her up. Thanks.

I only just got into Mumford & Sons via Pandora, and I'm loving them to absolute bits. I'll see how many of these others are on Pandora, as I haven't heard, or heard of, most of them.

Fie! Fortune favors fine fellows' flippant firsties! Feeble "failure" flagellations fall fallow!
