Right given that the E46 makes 333HP and weighs less.

That’s it? The one decade-old photo? Thanks for proving my point.
Sportbike riders almost exclusively injure/kill themselves. Your argument is ridiculous. Do you ride a Harley?
Where do you draw the line with that kind of thinking? More importantly, who’s going to do the drawing? How is your/your daughters life more important than the liberties of an entire nation? How can a 400lbs machine “kill” you and your family?
Lots of people can handle this bike just fine. Maybe you don’t have the skills or confidence but those of us who have been riding supersports for years/decades are perfectly at home on a 200hp bike. Furthermore, the technology packed into this and other current flagships only makes them even safer to operate.
Yes.
for 184k GT-3 997 USED and hit every track day for the rest of the year.
As a previous owner and weekend racer of an RC51, I was REALLY looking forward to the next step from Honda....... and then this junk came out. WTF are you doing Honda? Why the hell would you completely alienate your biggest supporters with such a stupid and expensive bike THAT SUCKS!? Guess I will just go back to a…
This is why I like motocross bikes. For about $25k you can have a bike capable of competing, and even winning, at AMA pro races. This is the case for many privateer racers without factory backing. You might not be able to get some trick works parts, but you could basically through the Pro Circuit catalog at a Honda…
Isn’t Marquez running last years chassis right now because he doesn’t like the feel of the new bike?
Yamaha is giving it to Honda on-track and off lately.
If we all rode bikes that matched our abilities it would be a boring deal! You’d see an R-1 once a month, Panigali’s twice a year, everybody else would be on CB-350’s.
My ATC 110 didn’t have turn signals. That’s the $180,000 difference.
Nah, this isn’t even a good track bike. The numbers don’t make sense. As I wrote when this was first reported, put a good set of forks and a nice shock on the back of an S1000RR or an R1 (new or old) and you’ll be riding circles around this thing...and you’ll have saved $150k. You could do the same thing with a CBR600…
I won’t argue that Honda puts together an excellent overall package for the price, and is tops for reliability.
Me too.
Agreed, but the article suggests all motorcycles are luxury toys. No question that on a luxury toy like a *six-figure track bike,* practical arguments are often outweighed by sex appeal.
Why would a museum or collection want one instead of just an actual MotoGP bike with pedigree?
Pretty sure this is the same switch gear that was on my Honda three-wheeler as a kid.
Yesterday, Patrick George lamented on Lanesplitter that “motorcycle journalism seems entirely centered around the deeply flawed American idea that motorcycles are just toys.” Today, Wes Siler describes motorcycles on Lanesplitter as “luxury toys.” If you all want to change this “deeply flawed idea,” it starts with you!
Why do I read story on Jalopnik that one of America’s big problems with motorcycles is their view of them as ‘toys’. And the next day, I see Wes himself referring to them as such? Hoping that was sarcasm, but too tired to decipher..
