re: Raf and Petra, he basically called her a whore (about sleeping with men for business deals) and did it again during the fight at the end. That’s a fantastic way to quickly fuck up your relationship.

Holy crud, I loved this episode. The whole 50 Shades/Eyes Wide Shut parody with Nathaniel was exquisite. Of course everyone at a party like that would be asshole Orange County-wannabe Republicans. Of course Rachel would shred the fancy lingerie and squee over getting to wear a masquerade masque. There were some easy

My god... that preview for Por Ella Soy Eva. The extremely cheesy narrator voice and dubbed dialogue almost made think it was a meta clip from the show.

My wife & I found watching this episode with our 16 y.o. son particularly hard (heh, heh). The normal censor pushing is fine but at least twice (Tim’s “come” and Rebecca’s “choking” lyrics) we were physically cringing.

“Holy Spirit” is the more typical phrasing. It’s the most mystical aspect of the Trinity, generally.

The problem with that premise is that Josh is way too sunny and optimistic and simple for anyone to really ruin his life or fuck with him.

Other than Nathaniel’s suggestion of ruining the lives of his innocent family members, what could they really have done? Screwed his chances of becoming a priest? That would

Woohoo! Strong episode tonight; I hope they didn’t shoot their proverbial wad with four songs in one ep, since the season is still so young... The songwriters were very much in their element here — old Hollywood song & dance, the jazzy Broadway of Kander & Ebb & Fosse, and good ol’ dreary Les Mis. “Strip Away My

That must be a near-record in terms of the number of songs in one episode.

Hoo-boy, and Rebecca isn’t even in the car with Josh right now to gaslight him.

I thought it was great. But it also makes me think - given this season doesn’t look like it’s actually going to be about revenge, after all - that things are about to get very, very dark. Even compared to how dark it’s gotten before.

Right. And because of his pull in Hollywood, those that did speak out had to do so with coded language. He could ruin people and I understand not wanting to cross that.

Yes, and also he didn’t just give “an extremely MacFarlanian smirk,” like the article suggests — he did just the opposite at first! When they cut to him after he says it, he has a dead serious look on his face, then only after a couple beats does he break into a wide, obviously-fake grin. I think if anything, he drove

Exactly this. To me they were clearly saying “Harvey Weinstein is a gross, sleazy dude.” Jenna is a character that allowed them to do this in a way they could get away with it, just as the Tracy character let them call out Cosby in a way they could get away with.

Subversive is the right word. For what I’ve heard over the years, Harvey is very much feared in the industry. He’s the 500 pound gorilla slash kingmaker. Fuck with him at your own peril kind of guy.

Because 30 Rock is a show that is witty and smart enough to throw that in there as enough of a jab toward Weinstein where it would not be slanderous, and yet his inclusion came from somewhere. I am probably too naive and trusting. That flew over my head in both of the Weinstein mentions. Ditto with any Cosby

The joking was creepy enough, but that ‘laughter’ from the audience(?), such an uncomfortable ‘i’m only kinda laughing but i’m really glad the news is getting out there even if the viewing audience has no idea that it’s really not a joke’ kinda ‘laugh’.

meh. There’s a TON of females covering award announcement events, but don’t let that stop your narrative. Good call, only old white men ignored Weinstein. And Meryl Streep. That’s it. No one else.

And the fact that the entire audience comprised of old white men laughed is fairly damning, IMO.

Exactly. Seth MacFarlane’s comment was tonally perfect.

This actually makes me respect those jokes and the writers who wrote them more. That’s pretty subversive of MacFarlane to do that at the Oscars imo.
