What you are missing is that she didn’t criticize his choice of wife. She just pointed out the pattern of all of these wives being light. It’s not a flaw on the women’s part, nor a question of their blackness. What is being pointed out is the pattern of preference on the part of the rappers.

Kobe probably deserved to go to jail for a few years. Kobe didn’t deserve to die in a fiery helicopter crash with his daughter and her friends and teachers.

People are capable of recognizing both that the deaths of the other four people are a tragedy and that Kobe was a rapist scumbag who finally got what he deserved. The two views are not mutually exclusive.

Gianna, one of his daughters, was in the bird too, if the commenters here would like to stop dancing on his grave for a minute.

And TMZ is now reporting that one of his daughters was on board the helicopter - and of course because this is TMZ and they have no shame, they’ve already named which daughter it is (I’m not going to do that here, at least). A minor, getting named in the news like that. Jesus Christ.

Sigh at some of these comments. Also, his 13 year old daughter was on the plane too. My condolences to his family, especially his other children.

Last night, spokesperson for Justice Democrats Waleed Shahid responded on Twitter to Claire McCaskill, a former Senator who lost her race in the Midwest, who said that “free stuff from the government does not play well in the Midwest.”

I don’t need her to be a leftist dream, I need her to be better than Mitch. It’s a pretty low bar. Campaigning in a way that talks to voters she needs to win over, conservatives who have probably voted red their whole lives (or voted southern democrat when that was still a thing) is smart. 

Also, as somebody from a, um, “flyover state” . . . I’ve gotten used to the fact that many people have very fuzzy grasps on their geography. It’s possible Paula Abdul got Iowa confused with Nebraska or Kansas. It happens.
