Yeh. I know but you are ripping anyways. So why not get a loss-less audio file. That what you can transcode to mp3, m4a or ogg... Or whatever else comes down the pike. Especially if you are trading in your disc to Amazon.
I don't think it sounds better, just that it gets the smallest file size. How ever negligible that may be.
