Hah, my memory was a little foggy ( http://www.thirdgen.org/IROC-Z-1LE-per… ) though, you had to get an IROC Z and click off a few boxes to get the 1LE package. Essentially it deleted a few items to open the package up but as I recall people just referred to them as the 1LE cars rather than an IROC with the 1LE…
Back in the 80's and 90's the 1LE was GM'S showroom stock racecar. It was a step up over the Z28 and IROC-Z. It came fitted with special equipment that couldn't be had on the Z28 or IROC-Z.

It was a car that could hold it's own against an E92 M3 on a track while lugging around a live rear axle. That, is actually surprising.
