“Oh my!”
“Oh my!”
I’m a much bigger Star Trek fan than Star Wars, but Roddenberry was problematic as hell and shouldn’t be remembered half as fondly as he is.
I’ve been rewatching all the Star Trek shows in chronological order, i.e. starting with Enterprise and going on from there. I’m up to TNG, and Season 1 was ROUGH!!!! It was way worse than I remembered. Season 2 was better, but it had some clunky moments. It really improved in Season 3, which is when I’m assuming…
Jesus, kid...you need a shave. Richard Nixon is spinning in his grave.
DS9 violated a bunch of Gene Roddenberry rules (no religion, no wars, no inter-personal conflict) and is the best Star Trek there is.
That “and/or” thing is a tough one. If I were being tried for criminal charges, I’d certainly want the prosecution to have to be specific in the charges they brought. This makes it sound like the prosecution is saying that her guilt is a foregone conclusion regardless of the specifics. It makes sense from a laymen’s…
RS also reports that “nearly every source” they spoke to grappled with whether or not to come forward due to the current pressure of right-wing anti-drag bills, but all said they want “Pierce—not the queer community—to bear accountability for the allegations.”
Shatner’s got some nerve calling out people’s appearances as “stunts.” His last outing as Kirk saw him travel through time so Picard could see him get crushed to death by a small footbridge that was spanning 2 boulders.
People seem to forget that Roddenberry was quite a horndog. Might be why he hired Rick Berman, lol
Shatner’s Kirk would have been court-martialled before the end of the first OG season in any real military. What an inane argument for him to make.
I love Star Trek but it feels like every time I read about one of Roddenberry’s rules or complaints about TNG they’re dumb as hell.
Fixed it for you: MEN who go to a movie about queer WOMEN in order to publicly masturbate.
I’m sorry, I thought this was America.
Oh he does, does he?
Its that time honored misunderstanding of the concept that “Free Speech” only applies in America when one is speaking against the government. It doesn’t hold in any other area of American life! Consequences exist with the freedom to speak, whether its a co-worker or an employer — you CAN be fired. Even if you speak…
When I quit Twitter last year, I kind of realized I didn’t care about any of this crap and nobody needed to hear me blather about everything. So I look at celebrities ruining their reputations ‘cause they can’t help themselves, and I just think it’s so unnecessary. Just shutting up is totally an option!
I think part of it is for her and others like her is that she was getting all this praise from the very vocal minority(transphobes will not stop talking about being transphobes, look at JR Rowling who had made it her entire identity) and seems to have thought that they representing a lot more people than they were. So…
It’s honestly like something out of The Twilight Zone, where she was so certain the extreme right wing fans would have her back that she could say all this stuff and still have a comfortable career, but then finds out they’ll never accept a big strong woman in their movies because it’s “woke.”
I would argue that if they have a 300 credit score and driving without a license, that they are in fact, idiots.
