Agree.  Maestro was so nakedly, shamelessly Awards-baity, that every single scene seemed to exist purely to serve as a possible “For you consideration” clip. Work like that doesn’t deserve to be recognized.  Greta Lee’s absolutely does.

I really really want to see Rachel McAdam’s win Best Supporting Actress, though at this point the moment does seem to be behind Da’Vine Randolph, who also gave a great performance.  McAdams was so, so good, so warm and understated.  She is truly our most underrated actor.  I dare say, she’s her generation’s Carole

See, I want to add a bit of lore that says the rubies in the slippers were being used as a way to secretly move Nazi coded messages through the diamond networks of LA and New York, and they accidently found their way into a Hollywood costumer.  These Nazi messages relate to deciphering where the U.S. government has

“And all for what, a pair of shoes? There’s more to life than a pair of shoes, you know.”

Good call with Mare of Easton comparison, fucking LOVED that show as well as 1st season of True Detective. I am totally getting these vibes and I am all in. Hopefully Night Country delivers all the way through that 2nd and 3rd seasons didn’t.

So far a good job of making this story and its characters feel “lived in”.
Little slices of stir crazy and loneliness and hormones and grudges and secrets.

Life in a northern town.

Liz instructing Pete to ask the right question very much reminded me of SOTHL and how now Jodie Foster is, in this scene, playing the Hannibel Lecter role. Circle of pop culture life. I loved it. So if Pete is the male Clarice, let’s hope he doesn’t get dead.

Coen Brothers, George Clooney as the crusty old pawn broker.

She was constantly shortchanged for Ryan and old guy when the “fam” was together. Which is when Ryan and Graham left I though, alright!

Yaz was a favorite of mine but she always deserved a little more spotlight than she got IMO

I started to like Yaz a lot better after she fell in love with The Doctor and started calling her on some of her secretive, manipulative behavior. It felt like the writers figured out that character way too late.

I suspect it’s a combination of it getting harder to bring back an established Doctor after three seasons (by that point the actor can demand a lot more money and their profile is big enough they are getting offers for other roles which will create scheduling conflicts) and because the original run of Doctor Who

Pretty typical. The companion with an unusual recent run was Yaz, I believe the only companion in the entire history of the show to stay with a doctor through their entire multi-season regeneration

Rose Shuster was a writer on the show who was married to Michaels from 1971 to 1980. She also dated Dan Akroyd around the same time.

I’m really interested to see who is going to play the cocaine dealers.

It’s a concert. I’ve never been to one that started on time. The only thing that keeps them reasonably close is local noise ordinances that prevent them from going late.

I don’t have anything against Pauly Shore, per se. But I like Richard Simmons and think he deserves a better actor to play him.

I get the sense that this project is more about Pauly Shore wanting a job than any desire to talk about Richard Simmons or tell his story.

Shore is too old/wrecked to portray the fitness guru. If we’re going comedic, I’d like to see someone like Mark Wahlberg squeeze his buns to the beat. If they make it a musical, let Timothée Chalamet don the famed short-shorts and sing about health and being kind to yourself. If it’s a Lifetime feel-good tv movie, put

A lowlight of my career is that one time Pauly called me creepy and weird for something that was neither.
