And, as a general rule, don’t fly American carriers. Foreign carriers almost invariably have better free service and amenities.

SECONDING the leggings/soft knit dress thing. I look like I actually made an effort, yet am actually walking around in literally the most low-effort, comfortable thing in my closet.

Wouldn’t the VR and the regular movements of the plane lead to the worst case of motion sickness ever?

About the winter jacket: fine, if you want to do this, but so many assholes don’t bother to pay attention to where the jacket goes. I’ve had so many flights where the guy next to me has an unzipped jacket falling over into my lap.

LA to Taipei and back on China Air - supposedly the worst of the Chinese airlines but still light years ahead of US domestic.  Free beer, delicious food, free entertainment.

Compression leggings or compression socks. I spend 8+ months a year with professional athletes and everyone, support staff included, wears them on long (and short) flights. They help the pros with recovery, and help regular dudes like me with circulation and a general feeling of a little more freshness when I hit the

Shorter solution: Be short... Don’t be tall...

My personal recommendations:  dress in comfortable clothes, dress in layers, get an aisle seat, and stand up and walk around frequently.

My question is how do you survive a long flight with kids? We have an east coast to west flight (and back) coming up in a couple months with 3 kids (4, 6, & 10) who have never flown before. We’ll have the tablets and games, but I’m worried about the part you can’t really prepare for. How will they react to being in
