Sure, if you know nothing else about either country than this one particular incident that MIGHT make sense...It’d still be incredibly wrong, but it might make sense. Even the rest of the EU makes the UK look less like a “free country”.

When both sides become authoritarian there’s much less space between them. Classic Liberalism is likely to show up once people get tired of all this.

Ironically only two presidential candidates brought up term limits, Bernie and Trump. He even mentioned it again recently, I’m sure with the intent of taking out the older Dem population, but it’d be a net win long term.

Almost like they’re centrist because they were narrowly elected in a state composed of near equal numbers of voters from both parties and they intend on bi-partisan support to win in the fall. The line of thinking that presents centrists as having to fall in line with the party is full of holes.

Typical 9mm would be roughly 350-400 ft/lbs of energy. A pellet fired from a decently powerful air gun would have about 100 ft/lbs for comparison’s sake.

we let our beagle lick all the plates before putting them into the dishwasher (which startled some guests when they came for dinner)

This is NY, the police were given an exception from the SAFE act they’ll be given an exception for this too as soon as they realize its worded in a way that includes them.

My favorite part is later in the post mentioning that China definitely won’t steal IP because they’ll have:

It was a no lose situation for Obama, all while maintaining the “Party of Adults” image for his party before elections.
Scotusblog had a good article on whether or not recess appointing someone would have played out:

Roberts is the new swing vote, that was pretty much accepted as soon as Kennedy stated he was done. Kavanaugh’s views are pretty well documented, he’s been on the DC circuit for a decade now. To the left of Thomas, sometimes right of Gorsuch, but that won’t be settled until he’s on the court. The interview process is

I wish. Obama did a great job tactically selecting justices based on available votes. First when he had plenty of support he got Sotomayer on to counter Thomas and then Kagan to balance Alito when he had less support. Gorsuch isn’t as bad as it could have been, but with more conservative support he may swing out

You say that as if giving Garland a hearing would have mattered outside of courtesy. The issue at the time was that there weren’t the votes to support Garland’s confirmation even if the hearing had happened. Garland never had a shot unfortunately, acting as though he isn’t on the SCOTUS currently due to bastardy

Why though? It was undeniably a shitty position for a president to be in, but even if they had held hearings on Garland they weren’t going to vote in anyway. They should have gone through the process out of courtesy just the same. Gorsuch is much less conservative than any of the current proposed justices, about as

He’s bad news, but not the worst possible of the potential candidates. Kethledge and Barret would have been worse if you’re main issue is Roe v Wade. Really the only possible candidate better would have been Hardiman who was closest to the middle.

Probably the router, but I’d be curious to know if the other networks they tried were fairly stout/corporate with a firewall or content filter, and perhaps they have some fun malware that’s spiking traffic.

Patriotic=drunk?

a literal Nazi

We only get about 4 hours a day to hang out with our dogs, and occasionally we have to worry about paying big vet bills, there is no way it would be fair to bring a child into that. That’s for a couple where both people have slightly above average paying jobs.

46% approval rating currently. Roughly the same as Mr. Obama had this far into his first term when the other side was saying the same blanket statements. Not saying whats happening is right, but its important to acknowledge the other side at least exists and try to wrap one’s head around the motivation.
