Exactly. I have no doubts about the quality of the show. I expect the writing to be sharp and clever. I'm also a big Tom Cavanagh fan. But superhero shows don't have a great track record. I hope it does well, and I'll be watching, I just don't know if it can sustain a mainstream audience.

Gotham looks like it would make a brilliant prequel film. Not sure about a series, though. I'll give the first few episodes a watch, based on a very good cast.

I'm actually very worried about it. Arrow works because it doesn't come across as a superhero show and it's aimed at a slightly higher age group than Flash. It appeals to an older crowd (ie. me) who grew up with the comics, because it's so respectful of the comic legacy. Flash is aimed blatantly lower, and will have

I love Fox for daring to try risky shows; I hate Fox for never really giving them a chance to find an audience. As such, I will only watch Fox shows when they've run at least 2 seasons. Three is better. Doesn't happen very often, obviously.

I've always loved the Lucy story (and it's one I've shared with many producers and directors.) I'm sure it had a powerful impact on everyone working on the production.

Meat + Fire = Happy Me. Everything else is filler ;) btw, I highly recommend the book Steak by Mark Schatzker to the meat-lovers. Smart, informative, and funny.

I dunno. The arugula seems a little over the top.

Casablanca. I thought it was just a cheesy love story until learning that it was an allegory for US neutrality at the start of WWII. As for SF, Star Trek: Into Darkness which I thought was a serious science-fiction adventure film. I had no idea that it was a parody like SpaceBalls. It's much better that way.

Awesome story. Even better than the time I was insulted on a set for bringing Christopher Plummer a less-than-perfect banana. "This fruit is inedible!" he griped, in a delightful mid-Atlantic accent.

It actually looks like a few seconds of flight time looped over and over. In other words, it barely left Gaza. You can see the Med on the left. They were trying to fly it to an army base just north of the Gaza border but it was promptly blown out of the sky as it crossed into Israel proper. As for the rockets,

Indeed, I wouldn't have much faith in a darker tone for the show if not for Capaldi's incredible range as an actor. I loved that Matt Smith played the Doctor as an old soul in a young body. Now, we're going to witness that oldness manifested in ways we haven't seen before; a Doctor who's not just cranky but wrathful

For some reason, I really wanted him to look like this.

I'd be happy if we could bring more science to science-fiction, period.

I had already been watching SF as a kid with my Dad, but my first memory of reading a book is "Beyond Belief" edited by Richard Hurley, a collection of short stories that I ordered through our school's Scholastic Book Club. I must have been in Grade 5 or 6. The standout story was "It's Such A Beautiful Day" by Isaac

Why are they unbelievable?

That actually makes me very nervous. Game of Thrones? wtf? The first book owed more to Blade Runner and films like Out of The Past. It had a definite film noir feel, There was nothing fantasy or epic about it. So, either the Game of Thrones reference is just to get attention, or they haven't really read the books and

Every sub-culture wears its own uniform as a means of identification. Doesn't matter if you're talking about hipsters, preppies, punks or goths. Simple as that.

They're not just physically messed up. We can't keep ours out of the liquor cabinet!
