Possible fly in the ointment has reared its head in the UK. BBC are reporting that a new SARS-CoV2 variant could be responsible for a major increase in cases there. Not clear yet what effect this will have on vaccine efficacy although they do know this variant shows significant changes to the spike protein region.

There are a lot of people getting riled up about this being an mRNA vaccine and worrying about long-term effects. Some of these concerns are valid, and I would love to have a vaccine with years of data in many people. But I would also like to point out that when you get infected with the virus, which 200-300,000

These cars are capable of 200 mph. No reason not to run the “tail.” I can’t wait for this. I’ve been saying it since I went to COTA in 2014: NASCAR should be there. Wide runoffs, fast straights, and enough tight turns to test these drivers’ skill. It’s perfect.

On the other hand, some fans were adamant that changes would need to be made t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶t̶r̶a̶c̶k̶ ̶l̶a̶y̶o̶u̶t̶ to make the racing, y’know, exciting.

I don’t think he meant sips. Closer to gulps. Like a normal person does when drinking from a faucet. I take 20 gulps by hand out of the faucet every night before going to bed. To prevent avoid dehydration due to having a couple of beers.

Did the same thing in college with the grocery apps.

Yeah I actually just created an account on Monday over on The Drive. I think it’s likely to be my go-to now. I’ll still pop on here for NP/ND but the slide shows, the quality of the articles, the layout changes etc - it’s all for the worse at Jalopnik. It’s a shame.

Can you also explain why Uber/Lyft cars are allowed to block roads while they sit and wat for their rides? Even if there is ample space at the curb a few feet away they double park with no concerns for safety.

What always amaze me is that they have managed to offload what should be the single biggest expense of running a taxi service - the CARS to the suckers who work for them! And yet they have still managed to blow through epic amounts of money with staggering losses for years and years.

Seriously. Just try and hire an electrician or plumber right now. Call 10 and maybe 2 will even call you back. If what you need them to do is under $1k, you’ll be lucky if they even come.

I used to work for a beverage company where I would regularly hire drivers without experience, train them for their CDLs, and pay them $45K + strong benefits. We’d always have a few leave after getting the CDL so they could work for themselves. Or, when fracking was in full swing, they’d go make $100k+ moving water

“What’s more, if you show up to that $13/hr job for a year on time and don’t steal, and work reasonably hard while you’re there, you’ll probably get a couple of raises (took my son about 9 weeks for the first one), and if you want to you’ll be a salaried manager with benefits within 18 months. They aren’t glamorous

the IRS rate has nothing to do with how much money you actually made. it has to do with how much of your income you can deduct from your taxes as an expense.

the takeaway here, is that while you are a fucking idiot for driving for a rideshare company effectively full time for a net income of ~$18k a year, you are also

What the author, and by extension the bloggers and publishers of this site, don’t understand is that we are not idiots and live in the real world. This is just about the last straw for me for Jalopnik. TheDrive has better content. Jalopnik steals half it’s good blogs from them anyway. I’ll miss the comments over here

Taxable income is not the same as income. Dudes dad still makes money, he's just not taxed on it.

Also, despite what the internet fanboys will tell you, every car on the market has its little nasty quirks, the Sonic included.”

I’m a bit confused. Wouldn’t you want to write:

Of all the bizarro fixations i’ve encountered as a clinical biochemist, (and i blame my social network for having more than my share), the most commonly involve water, (straight out of the Gen. Ripper character from “Dr Strangelove” and his “bodily fluids”). Chlorination, fluoridation, too much water, too little,
