I can’t disagree with this statement by Hawley, and I can only hope that the January 6th Commission will hold Hawley responsible for his seditious behavior that furthered an attempt to overthrow the United States government.

As soon as I saw the headline, my brain said, “this was a Republican, right?” And yes, lo and behold it was a Republican. Guys, you really need proper multi party democracy.

Not sure I see a need to make this a bigger deal than it has already become. They put out a bad joke, got called out, then made what seems like a honest and open apology that appears sincere.

I’m not saying it’s a good idea - but your examples don’t work.  The linked article specifically noted that principle residences (so, your house), and 401ks would be exempted.  

Per NPR this morning, “The tax proposal would apply to just about 700 taxpayers.” Unless you are one of those 700 I wouldn’t be too worried.

There is absolutely no plan to tax the 401k of middle class Americans, full stop. The threshold for the tax is tens of millions of dollars, but thanks for the scare tactics.

What I think is really interesting about this and other “fast food diet” experiments is that people often don’t gain much weight, or even lose weight despite consuming far more calories than normal and not exercising. Weight gain is clearly not a simple equation of more calories = more weight, and weight loss doesn’t…

At the same time, why does everything have to come down to legality and signed agreements for things like this. Shouldn’t a well functioning system be easy to navigate, transparent, and not rely on having to protect yourself all the time?  An ideal system here should be relatively “frictionless” so to speak.

The blue ice bombs are just proof that, even if you live in a region that has no strategic military targets, you can still be hit by an icy BM... (you can blame Spider Robinson for the pun)
