All I’ve ever heard Nintendo say about this game is “going back to the Mario 64 style gameplay”. That is all. No new experimentation and the footage they showed at E3 and in their Directs showed exactly that.

So, a vehicle that has better stats when used in a non-linear track is better on non-linear tracks, and higher speed vehicles are better when there are enough straight points to unleash that speed.
