The thing is that production are normally longer hours because it’s a lot of work and forcing everybody to get home by six means that a lot of workload is increased and maybe rushed because of the whims of somebody which complicates everybody else.

The author said that it was when the other crew had to put in the hours. There is no problem on being home at 6 unless you force the crew to accommodate you to do so.

It’s more complicated than this.
