“It’s always slower for me to go through a cashier than self-checkout.”

The Talented Mr. Fischer 😉

It’s not that people buy too much at once, it’s that self-check takes more time per item than the regular checkout line. Cashiers are pretty efficient. They know many of the produce codes by heart, they’re good at getting the bar code past the scanner on the first try, and they know how to resolve scanning issues

The first rule of being a patient is “never be interesting to your doctor.”

I have said many times that “Scrubs” is the most accurate medical show I’ve ever seen and nothing else really comes close.

Microsoft used timed exclusives.

As much as I hate the push for exclusives as a consumer, the Playstation boss can get stuffed. They spent the entire PS4 cycle locking their ecosystem down as hard as possible so nobody could even play with people that owned the same game on other platforms, and they still maintain a strategy of pushing for PS

It’s not gatekeeping to say “I would prefer an experience custom built by the game’s director.” It is gatekeeping to say “Developers who had difficulty settings are making a mistake.”

There’s a huge gulf between “I like X” and “people who don’t like X aren’t real gamers”

They literally said the word “Personally”,

I eat meat, but I do go for the vegan option in certain situations. If I go to a shawarma place, I get falafel instead of meat most of the time, and I use tofu at home instead of meat a lot, especially in stir-frys. If I get a breakfast sandwich at a place that offers a vegan sausage option, I’ll usually get that. I

I’m starting to think not putting this movie out is like the biggest publicity coup since putting out a movie.

I think the distinction is less about superheroes and more about IP. I mean, I don’t give two licks about Batgirl the character, but I recognize the potential of the character because of established IP. I made a joke about Dune Part 2 in the other thread, but I think if the first Dune had been summarily destroyed

Probably not.
But that’s OK. That’s what people around here are into. Maybe there are forums somewhere of rom-com fans, angry that some film starring Lauren Graham and David Boreanaz is shelved, and they don’t care about Batgirl.

A few years back I heard somebody speculate that the reason that lots of Americans associate Taco Bell with using the bathroom is that it’s because a meal at Taco Bell typically contains some form of beans, and thus it’s a rare source of significant dietary fiber for those people. It makes a lot of sense to me.

On the other hand i feel like he has been the most refreshingly straightforward of these giant gaming CEOs. He still has the whole hands held back from being completely open thing that plagues all CEOs, but generally he seems to say as much as he can as openly as he can.

I’m just trying to see why this is so much better than, for instance, getting one of those little squeeze bottles of flavoring syrup. Better for the consumer, I mean, because proprietary bottles and flavor pouches does sound like a hell of a racket.

Whenever Spencer or MS speak of devices, they’re specifically referring to Xbox and PC. If a first-party MS game is on both Xbox and PC, then it technically isn’t an Xbox exclusive. That’s why Spencer is so careful about being as vague as possible regarding multiplatform support.

Banning growing it, as an invasive species, makes sense.”

Yah this seems like a really expensive solution-to-a-problem-that-doesn’t-exist type of things.

The many flavors of LaCroix, Polar, Spindrift, and AHA always excite me, making me feel like I’m choosing a healthy alternative to juice, flavored water, and soda while still getting my flavor fix in the canned beverages aisle.

I mean “you worry about marketing and make sure it tastes like you want it to taste, and we’ll handle producing a consistent product that is safe to consume” seems like a reasonable partnership.
