It sounds like you value challenge over a more narrative story (not judging!). The Witcher series definitely can offer that on a certain level, but its super-hard combat is based more around prepping with potions, traps, and bombs (crafting really) rather than timing and skill (like the games you’ve mentioned). I

“really roleplaying isnt possible because you are forced to play Geralt”

More of an FPS gamer?

I fell like the Souls series (Bloodborne included) really needs to be a personal investment. The series is just way too punishing to start when you feel “obligated” to do so.

I’d vote Arkham Knight if you enjoyed anything in the previous games of that series.

I never have gotten 30 Rock, but Always Sunny is amazing.

When I was in law school, one of my first friends (at the school) invited me to try Kingdom Hearts. Didn’t like it and he let me borrow his PS2 to play more and I fell in love with the game.

Acquisitions Incorporated (the PAX game) is a pretty great introduction to D&D that started back in 4e (so until recently it isn’t played in this edition) and is available on the wizards website. Also, because it’s basically been played 2-3 times a year, there aren’t THAT many episodes to go through despite it being

I can’t speak to how things worked pre-3.5, but your statement doesn’t reflect the last 20 years of TTRPGs. New printings of the books would be updated with the errata, and those new printings would trump over the 1st editions. To the extent your group(s) did it differently, you are outliers.

While acknowledging the potential issues with the Roll20 sample, I think it’s pretty telling that D&D 5e is 2x’s as popular on Roll20 as the next closest game (Pathfinder).

My friend and I are pretty convinced they overcompensated on purpose and are going to walk this back. The proposed beast companion is nonsensically good, especially compared with the nonsensically poor version in the PHB.

“Adventure League stuff isn’t available to the public but I am confident that you could procure it if you know where to look.”

Whoah whoah whoah, let’s back this up for a bit. Can we get a link to that murderer story you just told?

I think Wizards is also very concerned about the power creep that happens as they put out more and more books. To fill them, they have to come up with new ideas and they can’t always QA all of them fully, especially when people start multiclassing crazy combos out. So, inevitably, you have people gaming the builds,

The best idea is to let your players start new characters and then start the next module at the higher starting spot. For example, Princes of the Apocalypse can start at level 1 or level 3 easily. If it’s the second module, start at level 3. Storm King’s Thunder also apparently lets you start at level 5.

It isn’t really $50 though. This book is listed at $34.23 right now on Amazon, and the Player’s Handbook is $28.74, which is the MOST expensive of the three core books (Monster Manual and DMG).

That’s what I did.

Nooooooope.
