Possibly because of US trader-customer laws and liability? All it takes is one belligerent customer to find fault with one of the cars and sue the council who sold it to him and the whole plan is out of profit and into ‘expensive’ territory, which is a strict no-no for any city council.

‘Gooses’??

Interesting article, thanks for posting that. (Always good to have more information!)

Been there - done that*, I felt a LOT safer on a 1950s Vincent Comet at 80mph than I did on a 2015 Harley Davidson Fatbob at 80mph.

I’d buy one!

Are you going to tell us a bit more about it?

“they can be more widely appreciated in a collector car environment for generations to come” -

The whole Tab-group concept is useless until they add in the functionality to SAVE the tab group (maybe as a variant of a bookmarks folder), and then reopen it when you re-boot the browser or the machine.

“ massive modern SUVs and similar cars ARE deathtraps, too, just with that death facing out, instead of in”

Haven’t watched the vid yet, but would have expected a mention in the article... the Harrier is THE example of a successful V(S)TOL aircraft.

Can we all say “Front-end write off” ?

Smaller than a Motocompo?? Tell me more....

Yes.

“As if there’s no overlap between those two?”

This.

Made me remember the time I chased one of these cross-country for about 30 miles. They were heading to Goodwood for the weekend, and I was living nearby. I was driving a Nissan QX (the 2l v6) and had to work hard to stay with the Bentley down the A29, especially in the twisty bits!

I would assume that a lot of cars these days (especially the mid-range cars) go into hire and corporate fleets, rather than to private buyers. I would suspect that this will skew the statistics for colours to the ‘boring’ end of the spectrum simply because rental and corporate fleet buyers will buy the simpler colours.

Yup.  Both BMWs have been pulled out of the garage and run a touch earlier than planned.
