I hate the area locked off too. The sense of realism lost there, suddenly a magic door appear and closed your way back when enemy appears. I love to able freely move from area to other area with no restriction, be it on combat mode or not.

I like the naked scene, just because the creative way to censor Dante junk. Anyway, I am straight, and prefer not seeing other man thing in games or outside video game, and this is not the case with the flying Dante scene.
