@Jester21: I think Drs. Se7en and Phat J from the BrokeNCYDE Institute of Technology already wrote a dissertation on that particular topic. Their research came back overwhelmingly positive.

I think it's incredibly cool that we're still finding out big new things about the Titanic, like, for instance, the fact that there's a whole bunch of debris from where we weren't even looking.

The world of high fashion has been reluctant to switch to USB 3.0. Designers cite lack of real need for higher transfer speeds as a reason, but we all know they're just looking into Bluetooth implementation.

@FrankN.Stein: Well, they don't look so bad on the poster, but I think it's the 'space-industrial' color scheme they have goin' on. When you try to make the same shoe in more contemporary colors like blue and white, the results do look pretty dumb.

Yeah, this seems a little silly. The inside of sports arenas are plastered with energy drink ads, so I don't see why virtual recreations of them should be any different. And that's a guy who really, really doesn't like the false advertising and crap inherent in energy drinks talking.

Well, how unexpected that Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz wouldn't end up on this list. And of course by 'unexpected' I mean COMPLETELY EXPECTED!

Plants have language now? This is maybe the third article I've read recently suggesting that plants are actually closer to some form of consciousness than we suspect (or at least are much more dynamically connected with their surroundings than we think).

@MrGOH: I really have no idea, but they're also doing that updated version of Moby Dick that io9 reported on a few days ago. Maybe they're just changing their business model.

So one thing about slow-motion videos that puts me off, for all I love them, is the lack of real audio. But this Justin Beiber thing - and the other Paulstretch videos making the rounds - make me wonder if you could record audio of what you're doing on a very high-quality microphone, and slow it down (with pitch

@moonshadowkati: Well, I mean, the wake sort of makes it looks like the water's being unzipped. That may have been the intention.

Some of these, besides being cool looks at the space-age optimism of the '60s, are absolutely wonderful from a design standpoint. I'd love to get a larger print of #5 and hang it on my wall.

No Sims-like torture of adorable fluffy animals? That sounds like a pretty big downside to me.

@njso18: But did they ask, or convince? No. This was a pre-recorded video.

This is fantastic.

@BrainBubble: Have you seen Scott Pilgrim's box office numbers? Quality doesn't mean people will buy it.

Had those Bose earbuds, didn't enjoy them at all. I'm already biased against Bose because I feel all their stuff is overpriced, but having had experience with that particular product I would not recommend.

DAMN YOU CONCEPT DESIGNERS. You tempt us time and time again with these beautiful but ultimately unattainable designs. Perhaps... a #tantalus tag is in order? Because that is how I feel.

@Inception: It varies by state. Some states crack down hard, some only give community service for possession. Basically the War on Drugs gives states the license to exact harsher-than-necessary punishment, and some states do it.

@Inception: Unfortunately, very much so. The 'War on Drugs', which started a few decades back (Reagan?), is a primary cause of America's ridiculously high incarceration rates.
