This was my high school in the UK. No hymns, no Christian things, no religion at all, except in religious studies, where we learned about every religion–and I do mean learned ABOUT it, rather than learned to be it.

It blew my mind when I met Canadians and Americans who went to "religious" schools but couldn't tell me a

That's what makes me the most upset! He tries so so so hard and he is incredibly serious, and they just laugh as though he isn't facing an existential crisis! Jerks...

And they just laugh at him for it! And he doesn't understand why they're laughing!

I've wondered about women who say it isn't real, myself. As we speak, my husband is staring at me like I'm crazy because I am crying as we watch Star Trek. (Data just wants to be human BUT HE CAN"T! I can't be the only one who thinks that's upsetting.)

Dick jokes are sex? This is news to me.

You don't think the 'nuke 'em all' part had anything to do with the push back you're getting?

Thanks for that link. I had no idea what the connection to Janet Jackson was.

The fact that it is underreported isn't helped by you not even elaborating on the subject.

Comments you know will make people angry for no reason except your masturbatory amusement = Trolling.

It's a ridiculous overreaction and massively condescending at the same time. As if people who use petroleum jelly as a lip balm are fools who willingly poison themselves on a daily basis. It is annoying that someone can't express his/her opinion without being flamed but it was a pretty abrasive way to say "I dislike

Hey, that's cool. I mean everyone is entitled to their opinions. I just don't think it's out of place or unfair, like everyone else is suggesting, for her to bring up a grievance that will impact her role-playing experience. Especially when it's a feature that would be relatively simple and inexpensive to implement.

they need joss whedon

Why would the Queen have a female guard? Preposterous! How would she protect someone when she's busy applying makeup?

Hey man, I'm just trying to be fair here and see both sides of the issue. Why is it pretentious and dumb of her to wish she could play as a female? Given the silent facelessness of the character, it would've been very simple and inexpensive to implement that.

I'm a guy and as a guy who doesn't sexualize women I always play as woman in games. And its not for typical male reasons. I play as a woman for two reasons:

This is a very good point. If a character's gender is irrelevant to the plot, and it would involve a minimum amount of effort to allow a female avatar instead of forcing a male one . . . honestly, it makes the game better.

I definitely see your point (and I will say that its a much more reasonable argument than nearly everyone else is putting forth here). A few things about that though.

It does - not hugely for this one individual game, but just the fact that the default avatar for most games is male.

Wow you really took it to the opposite end of the spectrum there - straight into hyperbole, didn't ya? It's not outrageous for her to want more female representation among game protagonists. She was merely responding to Jason's mention of Arkane's "lofty promise" of "you can play however you want." She never said

I'm a dude - just throwing that out there. That was hardly "fema-nazi bullshit." I think it's perfectly reasonable to be a bit frustrated if you have nearly no relatable representation in game protagonists. 90% are white males (which I am), so it's entirely understandable that some gaming ladies would feel a bit left
