I couldn't believe they didn't give us that as the final scene. Now I have to spend another entire year trying to make sure I don't accidentally give it away in front of my wife (who hasn't read the books but loves the show)…

Mild Spoilers:

"Surprisingly", nothing! Paxton's an excellent character actor, has been for a long time. And I agree, anyone who thinks he's Shatneresque needs to watch "A Simple Plan".

Agreed. After a certain point, it does begin to smack of Mary Sue-ism.

The show is set in a superhero reality: there's *always* a way to bring a dead character back! ;)

Dunno. Tim's Richelieu was over the top, absolutely, but he can do that shit in his sleep.

No, that was "The Musketeer" from 2001, which was even worse in terms of performances, but at least had some utterly inappropriate kung-fu stuntwork to keep you from completely nodding off.

" Disney’s straightforward attempt is mainly distinguished by how ill suited anyone in the cast…is for engaging in sword fights in period costume"

Actually, all of the VHS stuff is being remasted for Blu-Ray, so it should look decent, if not pristine. And where necessary they've re-recorded the audio tracks. There's a video of Doug Bradley in the studio doing it, at the "Occupy Midian" website.

Ah, the long-rumored "Scarlet Gospels", you mean? I don't know about a film version, but the novel will (finally!) be published in 2015…

I've always really liked this movie. Strong art direction, an excellent anchoring performance by Henriksen, and some really enjoyable creature design adequately counterbalance (at least to me) for the fact that's it's never really particularly scary.

THANK YOU!!  I'd noticed that the summary montage had some "Cartoon Religion" animation that didn't show up in the episode (Jesuses crucified on telephone poles, if I recall correctly), and had always been curious as to what else might be missing.  Glad to see that it was just as offensive as I'd hoped.
